What Is a Dished End (Bombe)?

A dished end (bombe) is the general name given to the component used to close the bottom and top of cylindrical metal vessels—pressurized or non-pressurized, thin- or thick-walled—used in industries such as LPG, LNG, fuel, food, autoclaves, and reactors.

Using a dished end allows radial surfaces to withstand (distribute) pressure more effectively and prevents the weld seam from coinciding with the critical cross-section.
